Rajeev Poddar has been paralysed from the chest down since childhood. His own formal education stopped at Class 2.
For more than thirty years since, he has taught economics, accountancy, current affairs and public speaking to thousands of children across India, entirely free of cost, much of it over Zoom from his bed. He is a three-time Padma Shri nominee, and his TEDx talk, The Last Lesson, has been watched more than 196,000 times over nine years.
In 2023, his nephew Aditya Poddar formalised that lifelong work into Knowledge Capsules: the same method, given a library, a weekly cadence and a way into schools that could not otherwise reach it. Aditya now runs quiz clubs across schools in Kolkata, Lucknow and Kanpur.
Today KC runs in nearly 150 partner schools across 6 Indian cities, and free in 78 government schools under West Bengal Department of Education permission, a number climbing toward 100. Knowledge Capsules is a registered trust holding 12A, 80G and CSR-1 status, registered on 13 May 2026 and listed on NITI Aayog Darpan.
